Community and neighborhood safety begins with personal safety and responsibility. Part of being safe is knowing what possible dangers or hazards there are and taking steps to prevent crime and protect yourself. A few tips that you can take to help prevent crime.
Neighborhood Emergency Teams (NET)
Community Teamwork When It Has To Count!
Neighborhood Emergency Teams (NETs) are citizens trained by Portland Fire & Rescue to provide emergency disaster assitance within their own neighborhoods. NET members receive basic training on how to save lives and property until the professionals arrive They have the skills to help their neighbors without getting hurtt themsleves. Portland Fire & Rescue currently certifies about 130 NET volunteers annually. Participants must complete seven training sessions and a disaster simulation exercise. The course covers disaster awareness and preparedness, disaster medicine, search and rescue, and team organization and operations.
